Crystal Clear: Marine Heat Waves & the Future of Reefs

Join us for a hands-on event exploring the growing threat of marine heat waves to coral reefs and ocean ecosystems. Learn how rising ocean temperatures are putting corals “in hot water” and why this matters for biodiversity, coastal protection, and climate resilience. Participants will create their own take-home crystal “corals” while discovering the science behind marine heat waves. Share your finished coral online to help raise awareness about protecting reefs in a warming world! While all materials will be provided, participants are encouraged to bring their own cup or small tupperwear container to transport your coral!
