For Climate Week at Penn, we are asking all individuals in and associated with the Penn Nursing Community to participate in a book exchange to benefit Books through Bars and a local residential substance use treatment center. Books through Bars is a volunteer-run nonprofit based in West Philadelphia that sends free books to incarcerated people. The local residential treatment center houses individuals for 30-60 days and is committed to helping individuals and families heal, recover, and rebuild their lives.
There will be tables set up in the main lobby of the Claire M. Fagin building throughout Climate Week (September 18-22, 2023). Recycle used books here! There is no limit on the type or how many books can be donated, but please only take one– all books left over at the end of the week will be donated to the organizations named above.
