Calling Sewers & Crafters: Help Memorialize Birds Lost to Window Collisions

Do you enjoy sewing, crafting, or working with fabric? Want to use your skills to make a meaningful impact?

Each year, up to one billion birds in the U.S. die after colliding with glass windows during spring and fall migration. To raise awareness of this preventable tragedy, we're creating fabric bird replicas as part of Holly Greenberg’s Bird Collisions in the Anthropocene art project.

These handmade birds will be featured in an art installation over 300 feet long, representing the devastating scale of these losses. Using upcycled and recycled fabric, each bird will reflect the species most commonly affected by window strikes. The birds will be assembled at a workshop during Climate Week, and we need your help to make it happen. Email Kate if you are interested in helping out with sewing fabric birds.
